Long friendship between Annie's best friend (Kristen Wiig) and Lillian (Maya Rudolph), after announcing her engagement and asks Annie (Ms. Wiig) to be maid of honor. Friend since childhood, the two are still tight, but the news that throws Lillian Annie, who, after the cake shop has gone under, is struggling with a lousy job. Annie is a little messy. He was low on money as a special bread recently closed and her love life a mess when he regularly visited late at night with a man (Jon Hamm in all his glory chauvinistic) who obviously do not respect him. Worse, Lillian just got engaged and had asked Annie to be the maid of honor.
There are great dresses here, of course, a stupid aggressive Gordian knot of silk and a sly intelligence to talk about how women need (and want) to be packaged as a bride, dressed in satin and all but disappear in a cloud of tulle bustle and appreciate family and friends. The film does not push hard in that direction - more than anything, Ms. Wiig and Ms. Mumolo want to make you laugh and snort - but they get to the lining of madness and joy in marriage. They ask the question faced by every modern woman who jumped at the chance to enact the equivalent of two-day pass from person to person, husband and father, if no dowry bushels of corn and 12 goat: How do you survive getting down the aisle?
Annie does its best to be there for his friend, and mensampingkan problem himself, Helen (Rose Byrne), the boss's wife Lillian's fiance, trying to get in and play, McLendon-Covey and Ellie Kemper playing the same spirit, a bit softer pronounced than others, while Melissa McCarthy ("Mike and Molly") is the most famous of the bunch. However, I will not sugar coat it; McCarthy plays a stereotypical role of a friend is overweight, loud noises with his mouth but the fun in this film. He says things that are inappropriate, fart and just throwing his weight around in general, but he has given many solid and one-liners film. Time starts to get unfunny joke just a little late in the film when it went from a comedy over a drama sitcom-ish. Rest assured, though, McCarthy and Hamm still provide a few moments at the end of the game's best films.
Chris O'Dowd, here he plays a cop Rhodes, and as the friendship between Wiig and Rudolph, O'Dowd performance that brings the heart needed for the images to make sure it does not stray too far to be just a comedy over-the-top.
